The Golf
the course
A hidden gem on the
Irish golf map
The Tara Glen golf course is something of a hidden gem on the Irish golf map. Originally designed under the watchful eye of Christy O’Connor Snr — one of Ireland’s most celebrated golfers — in the early 80’s, it has been continually improved and refined ever since.
Our head greenkeeper Paul Ryan and his team work in collaboration with outside consultant Gerry Byrne from Sports Turf Practitioners and the golf development committee in Tara Glen, to ensure that the course is the best it can be.
The Golf course plays as a 9-hole parkland course with alternate tee boxes, giving variety on your second round. All greens are maintained to USGA standard.

The Signature Hole
The 18th
one to remember
The signature 18th hole is a par 3 of 208 yards for men (147 for ladies), requiring a carry over a lake to an elevated green — with the open Irish Sea as your backdrop.
It is, quite simply, one of the most memorable finishing holes on any private club course in Leinster.

Both Men’s and Ladies’ clubs are fully affiliated with Golf Ireland (GUI) meaning your handicap is officially registered and managed here.
A full season of club competitions, semi-open events, and unique Captain’s Days in August awaits.
Junior Golf in Tara Glen
The next generation of
Irish golfing talent
Mondays in July and August are dedicated Junior Golf days. There is a vibrant Junior Golf programme for children aged 10 and upwards and typically in season there would be over 100 junior golfers playing with their own dedicated prizegiving night each week.
There are few clubs that can boast the level of junior participation we have in Tara Glen. If your children don’t play golf today, they may well become the next generation of Irish golfing talent through Tara Glen.
